Hello, welcome to my website.
I am a humanistic (person-centred) counsellor/psychotherapist based in South-West Norwich. If you’ve found me here in these pages it’s because you feel you need some extra support right now. I know how difficult it can be to take this first step and I hope that the information you will find here will help to reassure you that counselling can help. It can feel quite refreshing to talk to someone who is not a friend or family member - someone to listen who can help you to hear yourself more clearly.
We live in such a fast-paced world today, and life can be unpredictable. Things happen, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and anxious. Sometimes daily life itself can take its toll leaving us feeling depleted and no longer able to cope. You may feel that something is not quite right but you can’t quite put your finger on what the something is. Perhaps life has just lost its meaning, you feel out of sorts or not quite you? Or you may feel constrained by others’ expectations, and that you have lost yourself, somehow.
The type of therapy I practise is humanistic which means that I will offer you:
- An empathic relationship. Think of it as a collaboration. Together we will look for solutions. I will not judge you or give you advice.
- A safe, confidential and relaxing space where you can talk about anything that’s bugging you (and the things that aren’t too).
- A chance to explore, and to develop insight into your problems – finding your own resources and strengths.
- A therapy that is ‘wellness’ oriented rather than ‘illness’ oriented. By this I mean that I see mental distress as an indicator of unrealised potential rather than of a problem that needs ‘fixing’
I believe that we all have within us the resources to heal our minds and I will work with you taking into account mind, body and environment, rather than just the difficulty you may be currently experiencing.
